GRE는 미국 ETS(Educational Testing Service)에서
주관하여 실시하는 일반 대학원(경영대학원, 의과 대학원,
법과 대학원 등 (특수 대학원 제외) 진학 희망자들에게 해당하는 시험입니다.
GRE는 크게 General Test와 Subject Test로 나뉘는데
General Test는 지원자의 기초적인 학업 자질과 학문 능력을 평가하며
일반적인 영어와 수학 문제들로 구성되어 있으며, Subject Test는
전공실력을 평가하며 특정 과목에서만 출제되는
문제로 구성된 시험입니다.
시험비용은 미국 및 미국령에서는 $160 이고, 다른 지역은 $190입니다. 학교에 추가 레포팅비용은 각$23입니다.

GRE 점수산정
GRE Revised General Test의 각 Section별 최고 점수는 170점이며 최저 130점에서 시작합니다. 점수는 우선 정답의
개수(raw score)를 합산한 다음 환산표를 이용하여 특정 raw score에 해당하는 세 자리 점수(scaled score)를
찾습니다. 백분율 순위(percentile rank-백분율로 표시된 순위)로 불리는 통계는 전체 응시자 중 그 점수보다
낮은 점수를 기록한 사람들의 비율을 나타내는 것입니다. GRE Subject Test의 raw score는 전체 정담 숫자에서
전체 오답 숫자의 1/4을 뺀 것으로 이를 다시 scaled score로 환산하게 됩니다. 이 수치는 최저 200점에서 최고
900점까지 나올 수 있습니다. GRE Subject 환산
점수(scaled score)는 전체 응시자의 실려 범위 내에서
상대적으로 평가되는 것입니다. Subject Test는 틀릴 경우 감점되므로 모르는 문제는 그냥 두는 것이 좋습니다.
GRE는
Computer
Adaptive Test로 TOEFL과 달리 최근 5년간의 성적이 모두 기재되므로 좋은 점수가 아니면
시험 도중에 취소해야 합니다. 시험
유효기간은 5년이고 성적이
누적됩니다.

총 5 번까지 볼 수 있습니다
시험 시행은 매일 오전/오후 진행됩니다.
시험을 보고 점수를 확인하기 전에 reporting을 취소할 수
있습니다.
Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea은 the GRE revised General Test 가 1달에
1 ~2 번 컴퓨터 시헝이 있게 됩니다

시험점수
Reporting
시험
성적은 시험 볼 때 4개 학교까지 무료로 바로 reporting 하실 수가 있고, 그 이후 시험 성적이 나오면 (Paper 경우는 약
1 달 이후) 전화(1-609-771-7290)로
점수 확인 후 할 수가 있습니다. 전화로 점수 확인 비용은 U$12입니다.
컴퓨터 시험의 Official GRE 성적은 ETS에서 시험 후 약 10-15일 뒤에 발송하게 됩니다.
그러나 Paper 시험의 Official GRE성적은 시험 후 약 6주후에 받게 됩니다.
추가 학교의 reporting은
전화(1-609-771-7290)와 펙스(1-609-290-8975)로 하게 됩니다.
전화는 접수 받은 후 약 5일 이내에 처리가 되고, 펙스로 접수 받은 것은 약 10일 이내에 처리가
됩니다.
시험 성적을 보내는 비용은 학교별로 U$23 이며, 전화로 이용 시에는 1 번 전화에 U$12이 추가
지불 되야 합니다. 1 번 전화 시 8개 학교까지 보낼 수 있습니다.
지불은 모두 신용카드(American Express, Discover, JCB,
MasterCard, or VISA)로 해야만 합니다.
신청 전에 시험등록 번호, 시험 날짜(월/년), 생년월일, ETS의 GRE 학교코드와 학과
코드를 알아야 합니다
