The GMAT Essay Section
1999년 2월 전에는 2명의 사람이 essays들을
채점을 했다. 만약에 불일치가 되면 제3자의 채점자에게
갔다.
새로운 system은 1 사람과 E-rater가 채점을 한다. 만약 사람과 E-rater가
같은 점수를 채점하면, 그 점수가
바로 결정이 되어 지고, 불일치가 되면, 제 2의 채점자가
상이점을 해결하고 점수를 매긴다.
The computerized grading system은 채점인이 the E-rater's
strict standards을 따르게 압력한다 .
채점자들은 computer double-checking 하므로 더 E-rater's strict grading
parameters를 따르게 하는 경향이 있다.
How to tackle the Analytical Writing Assessment

Be particularly concerned with structure.
명백히 도입, 2~3개의 단락의 본론, 그리고 결론을 나눈다.
쓰기 전에 글의 구성적인 구조 세운다.

Use transitional phrases
"first," "therefore," and "because" 이러한 단어는 채점하는 computer가 단락상의 concepts 분명히 해주는데 도움이 된다.
이러한 변환의 단어를 올바르게 사용을 해서 computer가 분명히 인식해 한다.
The E-rater does not have a spell-checker built in.

Be a conformist.
The E-rater는 individuality, humor, or poetic inspiration를 반영하여 program 되어 있지 않다.
고득점 받은 essay들과 the style and structure를 비교한다. 만약에 고득점을 받은 essay와 같아 보인다면,
the E-rater's 기억에 따라 본인 것도 고득점이 될 것이다.

Clearly state your critique in the Analysis of Argument essay.
The Analysis of Argument 질문은 logical fallacies가 들어있다.
such as the unwarranted assumption or fallacy of equivocation. 이러한 통용어들은 the E-rater가
argument's logical flaws를 분명히 했는지 않했는지를 탐지하게 한다 .

Sample 들을 통해 어떻게 질문하고 대답했는지를 알고, 쉽게 다가서게 만든다.

Write in effective American style.
사람과 E-rater는 바로 poor writing style을 감지 한다.
The E-rater's 기억 저장에는 외국에서 사용하는 영어와 구분되는 American grammar/style로 되어 있다.
