The portfolio must include still images, time-based media, interactive media, or other creative visual pieces.
Applicants are encouraged to include examples of personal work, in addition to academic and professional work.

Use a CD (for still images) or a DVD (for time-based media). Each may be submitted, but please indicate one as primary and the other as supplementary.
The primary disk will be reviewed first, and supplemental materials may or may not be reviewed.

CDs should contain 15 JPGs (fewer than two megabytes each). Label each file with your last name, the first letter of your first name, and the slide number (e.g., Doe_J_01.jpg).
Please enclose a corresponding list in hard copy identifying each work by number, title, dimensions, medium, completion date, and any other relevant information.

DVDs should include one 5-minute (or shorter) preview and at least two full-length projects. Please enclose a corresponding reel list in hard copy identifying each work in order,
with titles, running time, completion date, and any other relevant information. DVDs should be in NTSC format.

Your portfolio should consist of 20 to 30 examples in digital format, submitted via website or on CD or DVD. Web format is preferred, even if presented on DVD.

: all submitted files should be Macintosh compatible. Digital files may be in any universal audio, video, graphic, web, or CAD format (e.g., JPG, AIFF, MOV, PDF).
SWF format is preferable if submitting work in Flash.

Write your name, address, and telephone number in permanent marker on the jewel case and the disk. If you are submitting a URL,
please include the entire website on DVD (as a precaution). Slides are not accepted.

Do not submit work for which your participation was in a production capacity only. Your portfolio should include a description of each piece by number, title,
completion date, your specific role in the design, and production of the piece, and any other relevant information.

 Architecture (MArch)

The portfolio should demonstrate your creative achievements. Portfolios should be either 8 1/2 x 11 inches or A4 in size, and they should be treated as a design opportunity.

The portfolio must be submitted in hard copy. Websites, CDs, DVDs, videos, and slides may be included as supplemental materials only, and they may or may not be reviewed.

Candidates without an architectural background should use the portfolio to explain their visual sensibilities. Candidates for advanced standing should demonstrate clear evidence
of their architectural education and level of ability.

 MBA in Design Strategy

A personal essay of 1,000 to 1,500 words describing your relevant design and business experience and how it has shaped your current educational and career goals.
Please explain what you seek to learn and achieve through this graduate program. In addition, please address the following questions:
  • What examples can you give that will illustrate that you have the ability to create imaginative yet practical solutions to real business problems?
  • What issues do you think a business leader should be curious about and how would you explore these issues?
  • What changes are you making in your life to prepare for this program?
  • Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
  • How are you making change today?

An optional digital portfolio (CD-ROM, DVD, website) of your professional work. All projects should clearly describe elements of the stated problem, the design process,
the finished solution, and applicable outcomes. Due to the volume of submissions received, we are unable to return portfolios. Applicants, therefore, should not submit their
only copies of files, artwork, or writing.

  Curatorial Practice (MA)

Personal Statement

In 500 to 1,000 words, outline your interest in this program and your professional and educational goals. Briefly describe relevant previous experience (i.e., curatorial projects,
writings, research, and organizational roles), your particular areas of interest in contemporary art, and any critical influences on your work.

Exhibition Critique
This 1,000-word essay should critique a recent contemporary art exhibition, evaluating its contents, order, ideas, and presentation.

Exhibition Proposal
In 1,000 words, provide a basic thesis and outline for a proposed exhibition, and include a list of artists and works, a possible site/venue, and a minimum of five visuals.
