한국치대 졸업후 미국 치대로의 편입 -펌
현재 한국 치과대학 재학중이고 졸업 예정이라면 미국 치대에 유학오는 선택의 폭은
넓습니다.
국내 치대 졸업생들의 경우는 미국 치대로의 편입이 가능합니다.
미국 치과대학의 거의 절반에 해당하는 학교들이 외국 치대 교육을 부분적으로 인정하여 2학년이나
3학년으로 편입 시켜주고 있습니다. Advanced Program 이 바로 이겁니다.
편 입학은 신입생으로 들어가는 경우와 지원 과정이 다르므로 후반부 쯤에 있는 치과대학 요강을 참고하여
원하는학교를 찾은 다음에...
그 학교 연락처로 직접 문의하면 됩니다. 보통 치과대학의
성적표와 미국 제1차 치과국가고시의 성적을 요구합니다.
치과대학원 전문의 과정은 많은 학교들이 외국 치대 졸업생들을 입학시키고 있으나
이 과정은 미국 면허를 따는 것과는 별개의 것이므로 재학 중에 자기가 원하는 주의
면허를 취득해 두지 않으면 졸업 후 대부분 다시 자기 나라로 돌아가야만 합니다.
한편, 미국 치과대학에 편입하지 않고도 미국 면허를 취득할 수는 있습니다.
미국의 치과의사 면허는 국가에서 일괄적으로 관리하는 것이 아니라 50여 개의 각주에서 주별로 관리
운영됩니다.
따라서 주에 따라 치과의사 면허를 따기 위한요건들이 다릅니다.
물론 대부분의 경우 미국 치과의사협회에서 인정된 미국의 치과대학을 졸업하고 국가고시를 합격한 사람에
한하여 주 면허시험 응시 자격을주고 있죠.
그러나 캘리포니아주를 비롯한 몇몇 주들이 외국 치과대학 졸업생들의 학력을 전부 혹은 부분적으로
인정하기 때문에 곧바로, 혹은 미국 치과대학에서의 보완 교육을 받은 후에 면허시험에 응시할 수 있는
자격을 주고 있습니다.
단 주의해야 할 점은 앞으로 2000년 대 후반부터 새로이 적용되는 법령에 따라 변수가 많다는
점입니다!!!
최악의 경우 외국치대 졸업생의 경우 미국 면허시험에 응시할 수 있는 자격이 제한될 수도 있습니다.

그리고 미국에서 치과시험을 거쳐 면허를 따게 되더라도 신분이 외국인이라면 미국에서
바로 개업할 수는 없습니다. 그러나 미국에서 취업을 하여 살기에는 전혀 지장이 없구요.
그리고 취직을 하게되면 고용주는 피고용인을 위해 영주권을 신청해 줄 의무가 있습니다.
이렇게 해서 영주권을 따는데 주마다 차이가 있긴 하지만 보통 6개월에서 1년이면 된다고 하네요.
영주권 취득 후에는 미국에서 자유롭게 개업을 하거나 고용의로서 합법적으로 환자를 볼 수있게 되는
거죠.
주의할 점은 영주권을 신청한 후부터 영주권을 받기 전까지는 한국을 방문한다든가 하여 미국을 떠나서는
안된다는 겁니다.
그리고 Residency 과정은 현 미국치대 졸업생(DDS or DMD)이 받게되는 것과 같다고
보시면 될 겁니다.
oral and maxillofacial surgeon (5년 정도)을 제외하고 대부분 2~3년 정도
걸리죠.
한국치대 졸업 후 인정 받아 바로 Residency 과정에 올 수 있는 지는 본인이 직접 학교
담당자에게 문의해보세요.
마지막으로 미국면허를 취득한 뒤 한국으로 돌아가실 계획을 갖고 계신 분들을 위해 말씀드리면요..
일단 면허취득 후 영주권이 없거나 미국시민인 경우 한국 치과면허를 취득하기 위해선 우리나라 치과대학
졸업생들이 치르는 치과 국가고시를 거쳐야 합니다.
이 시험은 하루동안 보는 필기시험으로 치과대학에서 배운 모든 기초의학과 치과 임상과목들
이 모두 포함되어 있습니다.
