Statement of Purpose

   What is the most precious in my life?

   I stand at the crossroads of my life now with curiosity for the wide world and aspiration. It¡¯s the worm family¡¯s concern that I appreciate in first and I will prepare my precious thing in my life now. To study at your university is a stepping stone for get the precious thing in the future. On applying to your school as an undergraduate student I would like to state my intention of studying Psychology at your reputed school now.

   After completion of 6 years¡¯ secondary school in Jinju, Rep. of Korea, my
intension to study Psychology was confirmed which seriously lead me about my future career as psychologist.

   During high school period, I had read various books made a great impression to my mind and I had become interested in Psychology. It seemed to me that the books had influenced me dramatically in my early life and my personality gradually changed to hopeful and sensitive. I think that the most important thing for my life is seeking for common values of human being to share with others not absolute value with myself. So I would like to understand more my self as well as the mental state of human and help persons wound at heart or having the difficulty in mentality. As a psychologist I would like to share my opinions and care others needed a helping hand of their difficulties. I think that is the precious thing in my life. For the peoples in need of my hand and my concern I will service using my knowledge and efforts through my near future life.

   That is my dream; to be a psychologist after finishing the graduate courses by
continuing the undergraduate course in Psychology.

   In particular, I would like to study in the USA, because the school has a well-known reputation for their great faculty as well as facilities. I became interested in your school not only for its various options and opportunities, as but also for its concentration in widening the student¡¯s academic research and training.

   My family who is my best friend in my life will support my studies in the USA. Now I am studying English for TOEFL at a private language institute in Seoul with hope towards my future. If my TOEFL score is not satisfactory for admissions that I¡¯ll take TOEFL in April 2003, I will take it again. Also I will register English as a Second Program of your university under the conditional admission, if you offer me that.

   Thus, in order to accomplish my goal, I feel that I¡¯m in a dire need for the education of your institution. Thank you for taking the time to read my article and I believe that you¡¯ll give a logical consideration of my application
