Most people would like to ask about other people's dreams, particularly
for those young men with challenging spirit. This is because the dreams
of those with energetic spirit are more beautiful than any other flowers
and shed more sweet scent than any other luxury fragrances. Having said
so far, doesn't it sound fun to hear about my philosophy on life and my
dream that would give you a good idea of my challenging disposition?
'The world is bigger than I had ever imagined!' I very
naturally exclaimed with admiration and wonder to myself as I watched
the green and open nature and the living environment where diverse
ethnic groups harmoniously live together, when I went on my first
knapsack tour alone for several months during the summer vacation in
1999 to Australia that is several tens greater in geographical size than
my country, the Republic of Korea, and New Zealand which is known to be
the world's "cleanest" country. Since then, the expression has
lingered long in my mind and to me it has become more sage remark than
that of Socrates, the world's greatest philosopher. It directly and
indirectly impacted my ways of thinking in such a way that I enjoyed to
take risks and to become more creative, while I had an unchallenging and
uninteresting life, and chose to stay in the present prior to making a
trip to the above mentioned countries. This is the primary reason I wish
to study abroad that I desire to live a different, yet more exciting
life.
Certainly, the country I was born is a dynamic nation for
those challenging-minded people and proud nation with 5,000 years of the
glorious civilization. Nonetheless, I still do wish to study in a large,
developed country like the U.S. where the world's diverse ethnic groups
live together and it leads the global culture or American culture, and
to put forth my very best efforts to contribute my humble input to my
motherland, and in longer term to the world. I am confident that I who
believe in Christianity that teaches its disciples to serve and to love
other people, and was taught by my parents to the standards that could
be used to tell good from bad, am sufficiently capable to achieve my
goal.
Amongst numerous existing disciplines I wish to specialize
in that of business management in order to realize my dream as in the
case of other typical young men. The dictionary defines 'business
administration' as the field of study that researches logical ways in
operating business. However, my working definition of the term is
somewhat different. In order to clearly describe my own definition of
business management I would borrow the lifetime belief held by my
respected Sang-ok Lim, the biggest financial magnate and the greatest
trader through Korean history of 200 years ago: the merit of business is
to make people who can do business with you." To put somewhat
differently, business management is the field of study that researches
the ways to satisfy people's wants. Hence, as long as his words are
graven in my memory I am sure it would help me achieve a win-win outcome
that benefits not only myself but also others. In other words, the
purpose of my studies is not much different from that of other students
in the business administration that it to realize our long cherished
dreams, my ultimate business outcome would be substantially different
from theirs.
As compared to many other candidates, I am not sufficiently
competitive in many aspects compared to many other competitive
applicants. As you may have reviewed from my curricular vitae I did not
achieve an impressive academic performance and my English abilities are
not as good as those of native English speakers. But still I am sure
that I can achieve good long-term outcome in terms of both my academic
performance and my relationships with others as long as I realize my
lacking abilities and try more hard to improve them.

As the saying of contained in the Bible I do ask you to provide
me an opportunity to let me make a feeble effort at realizing my
aspirations, and enable me to have great outcome to achieve my career
goal.
