Hi! I have so many things I want to tell you that I do not know where to start. One
of my favorite words is "friends" and I hope that I will be able to make a lot of
friends in Cate. I consider myself having a bright character as well. I believe I will
be able to make friends with anyone before long. Nationality and appearance does
not matter. I would be just happy if I could freely share with each other's thoughts
without any prejudices. I am not a person that strongly stands on my own opinion,
and I usually listen to my friends' opinion before I express my own opinion.
My friends tell me that they like the way I listen to their opinions sincerely.
I learned this kind of attitude from my Dad because he always said that when
talking with other people, conversational techniques were important. That
's why
I am always cautious and sincere.

The reason I left my native land where my parents live and came to the US
was that my father advised me that I should learn English in the fullest, in
the world's hub, the U.S.A, and beyond that, I could widen my scope of vision
by studying amidst various races.

In Cate, I would like to play a part of bringing in the harmony among friends of
various races. I have seen the many conflicts that occur due to the color of the
skin. And I come to believe that such dissonance needs to be eliminated by the
new generations. Having this in mind, I plan to make friends with South
Americans, Asians, etc. In addition, I would love to involve in the student council
board that consists of a variety of races.

Beyond that, I want to participate in various activities to develop my talent and
hobby more. I love a active kind of sports, but I also like activities where I can
focus on myself quietly. This kind of double-faced character comes from the
process of learning the Taekwondo, which is an Oriental martial art that
emphasizes the struggle with oneself. With black belt in Taekwondo, I always
try to remember its teachings and always maintain a righteous attitude without
giving in like a coward. Because of this, I often find myself objecting to injustice.
Also when I decide to do something, I try to make it done no matter how hard
it is. The memory of having completed the marathon, even though I ran almost
the last in my 5th grade, is especially a meaningful one.

One of my shortcomings is my tendency to be impetuous. I am currently trying

The book that moved me the most among those that I read recently is an
autobiography of Ottodake
Hirotada. He used to be handicapped, having no limbs
at all and shunned from society, but now acts as a messenger of hopes and
dreams for all those who are in a similar situation as him. Reading this book,
I was moved by his spirit of love, something that enabled him to make a trip
all over the world. And I want to become someone who can serve the world
in some extent.

"Never give up", which is what I believe is valuable. I consider it to be the most
important.  I learned this lesson when I participated in a marathon contest in my
5th grade in the primary school. A total of 30 class representatives ran a length
of 4 kilometers. Although I finally scored in almost last, my parents  and  friends
did not laugh at me. That is because a third of them gave up during the course
but I complete  the whole length of the course.

running. My friends who thought that I was like anybody else would give up in

I prefer sports that require practice and training such as high jumping
and volley ball, instead of sports  that require strength. This is because
  I am not
comparatively strong, and therefore I wish to over come  this by
training. When I was in the 6th grade, I still  remember having practiced
every afternoon for 2 months in order to participate in the high jump
contest. Thanks to this, I got the 2nd
award among 60 contestants.
Even today,  I am a member of the volley ball team in Southwestern
Academy. Volleyball is  a sport  that requires
one to keep practicing
in order to gain minute techniques
. Therefore, I believe  that  it is
a sport that suits me fine.

The advice that came to me as the biggest shock was given to me by my

I asked too many questions. As I had a lot of curiosity, thereby having the
tendency to ask a lot of questions, my teacher's advice that I was too
meticulous with a specific issue was not a good thing, came to me as
a big shock. Even now, I rethink his words from time to time.

People told me that I was a kind of child that kept asking questions until

when there was something that did not fit in with the facts that I learned

got tired of it and some elders advised me that this was not always good.
From time to time, friends thought that such attitude of mine was sign that

Such characteristics of mine seemed influenced by my parents' instruction.
Since I was young, my parents never found my questions bothersome and
if I did not understand their answer, they would often converse with me for
1-2 hours upon the issue until I fully understood it. This influenced me into
asking teachers in class every time I came upon a subject I did not
understand.

Being shocked with Mr.Possencio's advice, I consulted with my father.
He said that he was not saying that asking itself was not a problem but
if one student kept asking questions upon a same issue so much that it
hindered the progress of the lesson, then it was a real problem. Although
I do not understand while everyone else does understand, it hinders the
lesson to ask lots of questions related to it, which would be so selfish.

After this episode, I learned that rash questions help neither my friends
nor me.I learned that it would not be too late to ask again after pondering
over the teacher's answers after discussing with my friends.
As Mr. Possencio's
advice taught me to ask after pondering a bit more,
I believe it was a good piece of advice.

The reason why I came to the U.S. after I completed the course of the
primary school in Korea is that my parents thought that I should experience
a larger world. They wanted me to learn English to the fullest extent in the
U.S., the world's central nation, and widen my scope of vision by studying
amidst various races. In line with this principle, I studied in an American
public school since 1998 and finally realizing that a private boarding school
is better place to study away from my parents. Therefore, I was transferred
to Southwestern Academy. Hoping that I enter a high school with more
prestige, I applied for Athenian.

In Athenian, I wish to be able to bring in harmony, among friends of various
races. I have seen many conflicts that occur due to the color of the skin
and I came to believe that such conflicts need to be removed by the new
generations. Having this in mind, I plan to also make friends with South
Americans, Asians, etc.If possible, I would like to participate in the student
council board that consists of such various races more actively.

The book that moved me the most among those that I have recently read is
    the autobiography of Ottodake
Hirotada. He was physically challenged, having
no limbs at all and being shunned from society, but now acts as a messenger
of hopes and dreams to all those who are in a similar situation.

Reading this book, I was moved by his travel all over the world, based on
the only thought that he wish to give hope to the disabled. His very simple
confession, where he said that he  rides a wheel chair to give hope to the
disabled, was far more impressive than any great speech could possibly
be. A man without any limbs, someone who cannot even  move without
the help of another, The greatest spirit of love! That's the main reason
why I truly love this book.
